Announcement regarding real porn

Dear friends,

Sadly we are forced to remove and ban real porn on our booru.org platform starting from 31 march. The reasons are as followed:

Financing: The platform does not generate enough revenue from ads to stay afloat, we’re making around a 25% loss that has to be paid out of pocket. With real porn getting crowdfunding (patreon, subscribestar etc) is not possible. Getting rid of of real porn opens up more possibilities. We were forced to stop our crowdfunding earlier because of this.

Legality: Real porn comes with risks such as underage content, revenge porn etc. Keeping this in check requires constant moderation, many times we find that the sites with real porn are abandoned or poorly moderated. There are constant law changes and we can’t keep up with this.

If you are a administrator of one of the larger real porn sites on our network (25k+ posts/active community) we can provide you with a backup of the database, excluding user data so you can self host the content. Email us at staff@booru.org if you’re interested. Do this before 31 march.
